Congratulations Miss Diane!! Long term employee, Miss Diane Quarantello retired Friday November 23rd, 2018. Diane began her career working with young people at the Porta-Niagara Girls Club and Family Center as their Program Director and later as Executive Director. On April 1, 1989 Diane was hired as the Director of Operations at the Niagara Falls Boys & Girls Club, where she worked closely with Executive Director Robert “Knuckles” Bradley. As Director of Operations, Diane implemented the Gymnastic Program, expanded the Before and After School Extended Day Programs, as well as enhanced the community service projects the Club provides.
In 1998 upon Mr. Bradley’s departure Diane was named as Interim Executive Director and ultimately was appointed Executive Director. During her time in that position, Diane added a new fundraiser, the 5-K Run in the Mist, which continues to be a popular event; and began several successful programs such as All Star Cheerleading Program and “Kids Get Fit” Program. In 2015, Diane opted to step down from her position as Executive Director and became the Director of Quality Program. This position allowed her to fulfill her dream of working directly with the youth and have a direct influence on them. She has been an excellent role model for the young people and at times a surrogate parent. Always the optimist, Diane is able to see the good in everyone and bring out the best in everyone.
Diane’s compelling personality and genuine concern for the betterment of all youth has earned her numerous Community Awards, including Niagara Gazette’s Woman of Distinction; United Way’s Shining Star Award; The Saint Louise DeMarillac Outstanding Service Award from Niagara University; Niagara Falls Police Department Captain’s Peacemaker Award; the Martin Luther King Jr., Civil Rights Achievement Award; National Conference Brotherhood and Sisterhood – Community Service Achievement Award; Niagara Council of Girl Scouts Hidden Heroine Award; American Red Cross Service in the Community Award; and a host of others.
Although Diane's retirement will be a huge loss for our agency, we will be forever grateful for all she has given to us, our kids and our families. We hope you can all join us in celebrating all of her years of dedication to our mission and wish her the absolute best in this next phase of her life!
